Ho Chi Minh City builds traffic roundabout at eastern gateway
The traffic roundabout project to reduce traffic congestion in the border area between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province broke ground on Thursday.
With an investment of more than VND3,400 billion (US$144 million), the An Phu traffic intersection upgrade project in Thu Duc City will build two overpasses and an underpass connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway with Mai Chi Tho Avenue in Thu Duc.
This expressway connects Ho Chi Minh City with the industrial hub of Dong Nai and is also the main route for travel from the city to Ba Ria - Vung Tau, where there are major port clusters in the South and the coastal town of Vung Tau. The project will also include the construction of two other overpasses near the intersection.
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong said that the An Phu intersection upgrade project is very important, and is expected to help solve the traffic congestion that has lasted for many years at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City. The project is invested with capital from the city budget combined with the central budget.
